Two of Wands
Wands 2 · Fire · Mars in Aries

Upright — the world in your palm, the plan surveyed
Mars in Aries stands at the first degree of the year's fire, and today you stand on your own parapet, a small globe warm in one hand, the far country blue with distance. The gift is vantage: from here the road you have only imagined shows its bends, and the sky offers courage as a raw thing, unpolished, sufficient. The cost is that the view is not the walking. Height chills. To survey is to know how much lies outside your reach, and how long the crossing takes. Name one direction today. Mark it. Let the map be smaller than your nerve.
Reversed — small plans, the door unwalked
Mars burns in Aries today, first fire, the spark that wants only to leap — yet the card turns, and the globe rests in your hand unturned. You have drawn the map small. The threshold is there, the light beneath the door is there, and still you circle the room you know, counting reasons. There is shelter in this: nothing is risked, nothing yet lost, and the plan keeps its shape a while longer. The cost is that the horizon stays a rumor. Ask, plainly, whether you are gathering strength or hiding inside the gathering. One step outward would answer it.
