Ace of Pentacles

Upright — the seed coin, matter beginning

Today the root of earth turns beneath you, and something small and solid is offered into your palm — a coin, a seed, a first stone set down in the dark. This is matter agreeing to begin. Not the harvest, only the ground consenting. Notice what asks for your hands rather than your theories: the thing that could be started before the light goes. The gift is that the ordinary world will hold weight now, and carry it. The cost is patience, and dirt under your nails, and the plain unglamour of tending what has no bloom yet to show for it.

Reversed — the seed hoarded, never planted

The coin stays warm in your closed hand today, and the root of earth waits beneath frost for a signal you have not yet given. Something good is already yours — an offer, a skill, a small sum of possibility — and today it may prefer the pocket to the soil. That is not failure; unplanted seed keeps. But it does not multiply, and the season's arithmetic is honest about this. Consider what your holding costs: the harvest deferred, the ground left cold. You might loosen one finger. Bury one small thing in ordinary dirt, unwitnessed, and let the earth do what hands cannot.
