Uranus

Rupture, freedom, the lightning that will not be scheduled

The breaker of patterns. Uranus marks where you cannot stand the given order — where the sudden move, the reversal, the strange idea keep arriving. It moves slowly, so its sign describes a generation; its house is where the current runs through your own life.

Overdone, it is disruption as identity — burning the house down for the warmth.

The story — Ouranos, the overthrown sky

Ouranos was the first sky, so vast and so pressed down upon the earth that his own children had no room to be born. Kronos ended that reign with one shocking, irreversible stroke — and the world got space, and time began. When a new planet was found in 1781, the first one no ancient eye had ever named, astronomers reached for the oldest sky god; astrologers noticed the planet of revolutions had arrived in an age of them. That is Uranus in a chart: the lightning that breaks a structure grown too heavy to be born under — sudden, impersonal, and never, ever undone.
