Jupiter

Growth, luck, the direction in which things get bigger

The expander. Wherever Jupiter sits, you reach further than is sensible and are forgiven more than you expect. It marks where confidence comes easily — and where a little goes a very long way.

Overdone, it is promise inflation: more said than done, more begun than finished.

The story — Zeus, who says yes

Zeus drew the sky when the brothers divided the world, and ruled it by abundance rather than by fear: the guest-right, the oath, the thunder that answers, the tendency to say yes to more than was wise. His symbol was not the sword but the open hand — Homer calls him the father of gods and men, and strangers at any door were under his protection. That is Jupiter in a chart: the principle that more is possible — luck, growth, the horizon — and the fine print every myth about him carries: appetite at that scale needs somewhere real to land.
