Pluto

Power, endings, what survives the fire

The underworld. Pluto marks where life will not stay on the surface — where control, loss and regeneration cycle through the same ground. What it touches gets destroyed and rebuilt, usually more than once, usually stronger.

Overdone, it is the grip: power hoarded against a fear that never quite names itself.

The story — Hades, the unavoidable

Hades drew the underworld, and the Greeks would not say his name — they called him 'the wealthy one,' because everything buried, every seed and every vein of silver, was his. He almost never left his kingdom, and he did not need to: everything came to him eventually. When Persephone was taken down into that dark, her mother's grief froze the world — and the bargain that returned her gave us the seasons: the descent, and the coming back green. That is Pluto in a chart: the ground floor of a life — loss, power, the buried and the unkillable — where what goes down, transformed, comes back up.
