Pisces

Mutable water · ruled by Neptune — Jupiter in the old reckoning

The sea at the end of the zodiac. Pisces is permeability — imagination, compassion, the boundary that lets everything in. What carries it in your chart feels the room before entering it and makes art of what it cannot say.

The cost is the leak: escape routes everywhere, and other people's weather mistaken for your own.

The story — The two fishes, tied

When Typhon came, Aphrodite and her son Eros stood at the river's edge with nowhere left to run. They dove, becoming two fishes — and first, in the oldest telling, they tied themselves together with a cord, so the current could not take them from each other. The knot is still drawn in the constellation: two fishes swimming opposite ways, bound at the tails. That is Pisces: love's answer to overwhelm — do not harden, dissolve, and stay tied to what you cannot bear to lose — two directions forever, and the cord that holds.
