Aries

Cardinal fire · ruled by Mars

The first spark. Aries is the reflex to begin — courage before deliberation, the self asserted by moving. Whatever carries this sign in your chart starts fast, fights clean, and hates to wait.

The cost is aftercare: beginnings multiply, and someone else inherits the middles.

The story — The golden ram

Two royal children, Phrixus and Helle, were about to be sacrificed on a rigged altar when a winged ram with golden wool broke through the sky, took them on its back, and flew — no plan beyond the rescue, no route beyond away. Helle fell into the sea that still bears her name; Phrixus landed alive, and the ram's golden fleece became the prize a generation of heroes sailed for. That is Aries: the animal that acts in the moment it becomes necessary — courage first, arithmetic later — and the origin of quests it does not stay to finish.

The five

Who this sign's seat at the Council speaks through. Never named at the table — named here.

  • Harry Houdini · 1874

Staked his body on the lock, night after night, and died of a punch he invited a stranger to throw.

  • Aretha Franklin · 1942

Took a man's song and turned it into a demand. Never once asked.

  • Vincent van Gogh · 1853

Two thousand pictures in ten years, most of them in the last two, working like a man outrunning something.

  • Marlon Brando · 1924

Put instinct ahead of technique and broke the form by refusing to learn it politely first.

  • Maya Angelou · 1928

Did not speak for five years, and then had a voice that started things for everyone downstream.
